About Jenni

I started my marketing career at 19, before I ever finished college, sitting at a desk at a local newspaper running Quark, designing ads, paginating pages, and learning prepress the old fashioned way... ripping film, creating plates, getting ink under my fingernails. I also picked up a camera, did some writing, and figured out pretty quickly that I loved telling stories through whatever medium was in front of me.

That instinct has driven everything since.

I went on to earn a degree in Contemporary Media and Journalism from the University of South Dakota, with an emphasis in visual communications and minors in photography and psychology. Later I added a Master's in Strategic Communications from the University of Iowa. But honestly, most of what I know I learned by doing it, in newsrooms, dealerships, bridal showrooms, and now a clean energy tech startup.

My career has taken some turns that don't look linear on paper. Newspapers. John Deere. Formal wear. And now GridX, Inc., a B2B SaaS platform in the clean energy sector, where I've grown from Marketing Campaign Manager to Senior Marketing Manager to Director of Marketing over four years.

When the CMO and I joined GridX, there was very little marketing infrastructure in place. We built it. Brand, messaging, campaigns, content, social, demand generation, revenue operations... from the ground up. It takes time, patience, and a lot of hard, consistent work. And it's some of the most rewarding work I've done.

My approach has always been the same regardless of industry. Lead with the human. Build connection first. Strategy is creative, and the best campaigns happen when you stop thinking about tactics and start thinking about people.

I'm collaborative by nature, scrappy by experience, and I don't hand things off and walk away. I'm in it with my team, editing, problem-solving, pivoting, and figuring out whatever needs figuring out.
